I was worried that with just eight games left until the mid-season break our season was stagnating a little. The incredible run of results earlier in the season now seemed a long way away and we needed a spark.
This week we welcomed Alfred Austin back into the fold. The enigmatic talisman had missed 8 months with a knee injury but was now back working his way to fitness. Although it would be a while until he could play, just having him back around the place had provided a real boost to the boys. His goals to game ratio since I took charge has been one of the main ingredients to our success.
One player to leave the camp was Andreas Bundegaard, he showed a lot of promise but his attitude was far from what I expected and after a couple of arguments about game time I have decided to send him back to OB.
Fredensborg 2-0 FC Helsingör
After two consecutive 0-0 draws this win tasted a little sweeter than normal. We looked every part a Division one side and goals from Emil Thomsen and Stefan Stojilkovic wrapped up the three points.
FC Roskilde 1-2 Fredensborg
FC Roskilde sits one place below us in the third position so this was a huge result. Jimmy Mayasi and Tobias Thomsen put us into a 2-0 lead and although Roskilde pulled one back we saw the game out without too much trouble. One other pleasing aspect is that Albrechtson and Nissen look to be building a healthy partnership in the middle of my back four.Roskilde
Naestved 0 -2 Fredensborg
Two first half goals from Emil Thomsen and Stefan Stojilkovic ensured a third victory on the spin. It wasn’t a commanding performance but three points are three points and 3 of the next 4 games at home we seem to be back on track.
In the lead up to the next game we moved into the loan market and brought in Mads Stefansen from Aab, the young striker would hopefully tide us over until Austin returned to full match fitness.
Fredensborg 1-1 FC Thisted
The only good thing to come from this game was a late equaliser by new boy Mads Stefansen. After being reduced to 10 men midway through the second half than watching FC Thisted pounce in the 89th minute all looked lost, but deep into injury time, Stefansen kept his head and finished cooly. From the situation we found ourselves in, I’ll take that.
Fredensborg 1-1 SonderjyskE
The league leaders came to town. Not only are they the league leaders but they are comfortably better than everyone else and should have no problem strolling away with the title. It was a good game and we gave as good as we got especially seeing as for the second week in a row we were reduced to 10 men. This time Zahib Mohammed received his marching orders in the 67th minute. Even with 10 men, we pushed for a winner even throwing on Austin for his first taste if first team football in nearly 9 months but in the end, we had to be happy with a solitary point.
Skive 3-3 Fredensborg
A thrilling encounter for the neutral and an infuriating one for me. Twice we went in front but on both occasions we let it slip and in all honesty, we probably didn’t deserve Jimmy Mayasi’s late equaliser. Good points were Stojilkovic scored again to take his tally to 13 goals in 16 starts and Austin played another 20 minutes of football.
Fredensborg 1-1 Fremad Amager
A dour game that I thought we would be taking three points from especially when Austin came off the bench to put us 1-0 up. Unfortunately just when I thought we had turned our form around Fremad hit us on the break to take a share of the spoils. We really need the midseason break.
FC Sydvest 1-0 Fredensborg
Given our current form, this was on the cards after four straight draws some of which were fortunate we finally came away with nothing. Austin sat it out with a bit of soreness in his knee and Mads Stefansen a second half substitute blazed a penalty high and wide.
The squad is starting to look tired. The step up to this level seems to be taking its toll, little injuries have started to creep in too. I could really do with an extra pair of hands in the medical department or this could disrupt our season.
We have three months now to prepare for when the squad returns, new faces on and off the pitch are paramount to my plans. The results faded towards the end of the first part of the season but we are still sitting in a strong position. I’m not sure how the promotion spots work in this division, looking at the table I’d say top goes up automatic then maybe some kind of play-off scenario.
