Fredensborg – Where Goalkeepers dare to tread!

We can’t keep a clean sheet for love nor money and our normally reliable goalkeeper has made more mistakes than a Hans Segers/Bruce Grobbelaar hybrid. New blood is needed.

Jacob Albrechtsen a 28-year-old centre-half has joined up with the squad on a 12-month contract, he joins on a free from recently relegated Avarta, his experience in playing at this level could be vital.

Our next fixture is against Henrik Larsen’s Skive IK. The former Celtic legend finds his side down in 8th position so I’m hopeful of 3 points. Albrechtsen goes straight into the back 4 to make his debut and Stojilkovic wins back his place up top.

Fredensborg 6-2 Skive IK

Still, no clean sheet but another fantastic attacking performance lands us the three points. 18 years old Stefan Stojilkovic bags his second hat-trick of the season alongside goals from Johansen, Falck and Nielsen.

The young Danish forward was signed back in my first season as a lanky 16-year-old target man, two years playing reserve football with the odd cameo and session after session in the gym has really paid off. I thought we would struggle without Alfred Austin but so far Stojilkovic is filling those rather large boots and in a few months when Austin returns I could have a tough decision to make.

Deadline day arrives and there are two positions I still want to strengthen. My patience is wearing thin with Martin Pederson the Goalkeeper and another striker/shadow striker would be nice. Mathias Tyschen would leave to gain some valuable first team experience, the 18-year-old striker has potential but I can’t guarantee him game time at the minute. Thomas Norgaard a 31-year-old goalkeeper also joined the team, with Superliga experience in his locker I was sure he could be a great player for us.

Next up the Superliga side, Nordsjaelland were in town for a 2nd round tie in the Danish Cup, We were itching to prove to ourselves how good we were.

The scoreline didn’t reflect our performance. After going behind early we knuckled down and took the game to them. To make matters worse Zahir Mohammad received his marching orders in the 34th minute and yet still we tried to put them on the back foot.

The lads performed admirably and even thought the Superliga side scored another late on we could hold our heads up high.

After the game, I was pulled to one side by a reporter and asked if I would be interested in moving to Ibrox. The Rangers Chairman had been at tonight’s game and the rumours were circling that I would soon be making the switch to Britain. I said I knew nothing of the move and doubted anything would come of these rumours even if I secretly wondered how true they were.

Fredensborg 2-1 FC Sydvest

Stojilkovic again found the net but this was not an easy match up. Sydvest showed us they are no mugs and only a debut goal from striker Mads Stefansen separated the two sides. The young striker has joined on loan from Superliga side Aab and made an instant impact

Fremad Amager 2-1 Fredensborg

A game in hand, away to bottom of the league, What could go wrong?

Truly terrible performance from minute one. I switched us back to 4-1-2-2-1 with Bundegaard and Mohammad on the flanks, Thomsen came in for Stojilkovic up top as he needs game time and Norgaard would make his debut in between the posts. If nothing else it taught me not to underestimate any side in this league, these could be massive points come to the end of the season.

Our next three games brought about three draws and to be honest three average performances. Maybe it’s the new faces or just the loss of that promotion feeling but something has changed. With two of the games ending 0-0, our changes to the defence have made us become a little bit more of a solid unit but that seems to have taken away from our attacking threat.

mid results

After completing the first round of fixtures we received a very welcome cheque from the Danish Football Association, Our current league position of 2nd had earned us £213,000. This is more money than the club has ever seen, the debt is instantly wiped off and we can now offer a few more players deals to try and keep our best assets. I’m hopeful that when we get to 2/3rd mark of the season we receive a similar cheque.

With 8 games to go until the mid-season break, we would need a real upturn in results if we were to get back to our early season promise.
