FM16: “The Academics” – part XXIX – 1st half of the 2030/2031 season

I decided this season will be split to more posts because there was very active winter transfer window by us so you can look forward to next post in which I will write about new players and our new club record outgoing transfer. But until that you can read about the 1st half of the 2030/2031 season.

We played very good footbal in all competitions and we are on the way to win ninth league title in a row and another domestic cup trophy.

If you did not read about our summer transfers and our key players you can find the latest part HERE.

DBU Pokalen

I will start with two matches in domestic cup – DBU Pokalen. We played with FC Vestsjaelland in the 3rd Round as we were through thanks to a penalty shoot-out win. I wrote more about this match previously because our goalkeeper saved two penalties and scored our last and winning penalty.

The next round was more easier than the match against Vestsjaelland. We played at home against Hobro IK. This team is our frequent opponent during pre-season time and some of our players were there on-loan.

We played with rotation squad + with some more experienced players like Meyer, Hogh and Randrup because they did not played league match two days before this game. And it was Nichlas Meyer who scored the first goal. But Hobro levelled the score and we were able to score winner just in the 89th minute. It was Meyer again. Youngster Benjamin Andersen scored third one in the stoppage time.

We had 41 shots (18 on target) in this match and we had 19 corner kicks but our effectivity was very bad. Nevermind. We are in the Quarter Final where we will play against Odense in March next year.

Champions League

It was again very difficult group in the Champions League but it was very intersting one. We met Leverkusen, Olympiakos and Olympique Marseille. The French side is great this season and we were not able to beat them in both matches. We were very lucky to get one point in home match which ended with a 2-2 draw.

We started and finished the group with 1-1 draw. Firstly with Leverkusen where we scored equaliser in the 92nd minute by Toxvaerd. We beat Olympiakos 1-0 thanks Meyer early goal and the decisive match was our home game against Leverkusen.

We’ve won 2-1 thanks Albi Sali and Anders Toxvaerd and we secured qualification to the 1st Knockout Round. The last match against Olympiakos was tough one but we earned another point for a 1-1 draw. Again thanks to a goal by Toxvaerd.

There was draw a few days after the last group match and it decided that we will play with Dortmund in the 1st Knockout Round…

As you may know, if you read this post, we won every single league match during the last season. My plan was to win another league title this season, not to make another perfect season. But it looks like my boys really like wins…

We started with a 4-0 derby win over FC Nordsjaelland and we conceded the first goal of the season in the 7th Round in the match with AC Horsens. We were 1-0 down at the half-time but Neil Paterson scored two goals after the break and we won another game.

There were great run of games without conceding. Another match in which we conceded was in December so we played 11 matches in a row without goal in our own net. It was Horsens again who scored against us. And we conceded also with Aarhus but in overall we conceded only THREE goals during the 1st half of the Superliga season.

There were some excellent performances from AB team included wins over Kobenhavn or Brondby and Lyngby as well. We did not dominate players statistics like best goalscorer or assists but that’s not problem because goals and asssist are divided between whole squad.

Only our goalkeepers are leading the clean sheets stats 🙂

We are mile ahead of rest of the teams so the main aim for the rest of the season is to win every match. Just only because we had great first half ot this year…
