The second part of the 2029/2030 season summary is here! I divided this season to more parts as there were many things to write about. Martin Hansen became European Golden boy, two of our long-serving players left the club, stadium expansion or the Champions League campaing in which we finished in the Semi Final. You can read all previous parts here.
DBU Pokalen 2029/2030
This part is about two domestic competition and the first one is DBU Pokalen. We started this year’s campaign with tight 1-0 win over Naestved BK from the second tier as we played mostly with the kids.
We were unlucky to play with teams from lower leagues this year but we were good enough to beat all Superliga opponents despite we played with rotate squad and many youngsters. We beat rival Lyngby 5-3 after the extra time in very interesting game with eight goals.
Then we beat Brondby 2-1 and we faced FC Kobenhavn in the Semi Final. The first leg was fantastic by us as we beat them 5-0. It was very pleasing to see our young players destroying the strong Kobenhavn side.
I decided to play with kids the second leg as well and they beat Kobenhavn 3-0 after great display. Brilliant.
The Final was against FC Midtjylland and we were 1-0 up after the first half but they equalised after hour of play. We scored two goals within a minute in the 2nd half of the extra time. It means we won domestic cup for the fourth time in a row and for the ninth time during my time with the club.
We dominated Superliga in the past years as we are seventh time champions. It’s eight time champions now after the 2029/2030 season. But this season was something special as we lost no points in 36 matches.
There were a 36 winning matches by our side as we scored 83 goals and conceded only 20 goals during this season. We gained 108 points what is a new league and club record of course.
We beat our rival Lyngby 4-0 and 3-0 and they were not unable to reach the Championship Group. We beat FC Kobenhavn 3-1, 1-0, 2-1 and 5-4. Brondby finished the season second and we beat them 3-1, 1-0, 2-0 and 3-0.
I was very pleased with the way how we played the whole season with 4-1-4-1 formation and more importantly I was pleased with many youngsters in the squad and their performances.
We finished the season with four 2-1 wins in a row. It was during the festive period when we played in the Champions League and DBU Pokalen as well and there were a lot of rotation in the starting XI.
Henrik Michaelsen became the best goalscorer with 27 goals in all competitions. The right back Lars Sorensen and right wide playmaker Oyvind Oygard had 11 assists both.
We finished the season with £79,220,720 in overall balance and we have aroun £80M transfer budget for the next season but everyone who read this save story know that I will not spend too much of it.
Many players are wanted around the Europe like every year and it will be interesting to see if I can keep them in the squad. My aim is to be dominating in Denmark next season again and we will se how far can we go in Europe…
