FM16: “The Academics” – part V – Promotion party!

As you know we have won the Autumn Season of the Danish third tier and qualified to the Promotion Stage. We played ten friendly matches during long winter break mainly only for some gate receipts and fitness, results were no important. And we were very good in the Promotion Stage where we did not lose a single match and we finished first in the table which means we are promoted to the NordicBet Liga.

When the Promotion Stage began the results of the six matches were transferred from autumn so we have four wins, one draw, one loss and sixteen matches ahead of us. We played all these matches with 4-4-2 tactic with an attacking mentality.

The most important thing was that our starting XI was stabilized and we have no more such a big amount of injured players. Only one of our new players, forward Nikola Saric was injured for the most of season. He played one game and was injured again. And it was repeated almost the whole season. Definitely flop of the season but the team was not affected by his absence.

We started the second part of the season with great five wins in a row. We beat Middelfart, Naesby, Brabrand, Marienlyst and Nykobing. We scored 13 goals and conceded only 3 goals.

At the end of April and at the start of May we secured three points after three draws with Dalum, Naesby a Kolding but after these three matches we have won all remaining matches.

The key was a very good form of our strikers – Nicolas Rohde and Simon Braemer. They scored 30 league goals combined, fifteen both of them. I was very happy that instead, we were not the better side in some matches we were able to score the winner from set pieces and we fought until the end in every game.

We secured promotion three matches before the end of the season which was pretty cool and we have won the league with 55 points. Hvidovre finished second 16 points behind us.

The best player of the season is a captain Simon Braemer for me. He scored fifteen league goals and made five assists. He had an average rating of 7.24, the second-best rating from all players in the league.

The second-best player was central defender Nicolai Hogh. The experienced defender had the best rating of tackles per game from the whole league and he had an average rating 7.01.

Best goal of the season – Marc Maze vs. AB Tarnby in September 2015.

And the third-best player was midfielder Adnan Mohammad who was on loan from Nordsjaelland. He played thirty matches, scored nine goals and made five assists. His contract ends in June so I will make everything to sign him on a free.

Simon Braemer was voted as the best player of the season by fans as well and Nichlas Rohde was voted as the best young player of the season instead he is 24 years old. Defender Marc Maze had most assists – 10 in all competitions combined.

When I start this save the club Overall Balance was -£251,218. After the end of the first season, it’s -£1,054,193 and season’s loss is -£481,316. I don’t expect some income thanks to transfers because a big amount of our players will leave the club for a free and others are not wanted.

There was a very small income from gate receipts, the was no money from TV rights and instead, I decreased wage budget we had the highest wage budget in the third tier. I hope it would be slightly better after promotion because some matches could be on TV and there will be more fans at our matches hopefully.
